There are very few things that can compare to the joy and deep satisfaction you feel whenever you help others walk through and conquer trying times. Unfortunately, it can be very easy for you to get caught up in helping others succeed while you yearn for that same support.
If you have consciously, or unconsciously, assumed the position of the superhero-healer-to-the-rescue and silently wish you could help yourself by asking for support, here are 3 simple tips to help you channel all that energy the right way and achieve the freedom you deserve.
Create A Morning Routine
The beginning of your day plays a great deal in shaping how the rest of your day goes. To channel your energy into helping yourself, you need to create and maintain a routine that revolves around you and nobody else – not even your clients. Make the first 30 minutes to 2 hours of your day “Me Time”.
If you are constantly placing others’ needs above yours, you will continue to fall down the rabbit hole of neglect.
Also, if the first thing you do when you wake up is to check their mails or social media channels for messages from clients, we suggest that you let go of any urgency that you have to be everything to everyone. The world can wait.
Start your day by being grateful for all the wonderful things around you; exercise; add some thoughts to your journal; read an inspirational book; or even take a walk.
And be sure to schedule your “Me Time” in your calendar.
This is closely linked to the first tip.
You need to understand your strengths and weaknesses. Why? As a healer, there often is a sense that you have to carry the weight of the world on your shoulders; supporting others, yet never feeling supported. You can easily burn yourself out trying to do it all.
Know your limits by reminding yourself that, at times, it is okay to throw in the towel.
Ask and It Is Given
There comes a time in all our lives when we must speak up and ask for help. Although, this may seem like a difficult thing to do, you will be surprised at just how often people are willing to support you.
Did you know there are specialists whose job is to help you easily and joyfully navigate these moments?
Think of yourself as an enthusiastic CEO, trying to bootstrap and get everything done. You have chosen to be the graphic and web designer, marketer, tax specialist, customer service representative, and any other role for your business, just to save cost. And guess what? By wearing all the hats, that flame of enthusiasm will go out.
